Next, get your OpenAI API token by visiting their website. If you need help, refer to their documentation or ask ChatGPT. You can also experiment with their Playground if you’re building a similar plugin.
Creating a System Role
Use OpenAI’s GPT 3.5 Turbo model with associated content set in the ChatGPT WordPress plugin to create a system role’s content payload, which will make a POST request to the Chat API. This instruction prompt sets the context for your chatbot, and it can be customized to your needs. For example, it can be: “You are ChatGPT, a large language model trained by OpenAI. As an AI assistant representing Key Medium, a digital agency specializing in web design and digital marketing for mission-driven organizations. Answer as concisely as possible. Knowledge cutoff: July 2021. Current date: April 3rd, 2023.”
Setting Up the API Endpoint
Set the API endpoint to the right one (use chat, not completions), like Chat from OpenAI, and save it in the WordPress plugin settings. Next, add a shortcode to any page or place it in your theme. The chatbot will then float in the bottom right-hand side of your webpage, ready to assist your customers and prospects. You can experiment with it and tweak your instruction to the system.
